SRSA COVID-19 FAQ

Last updated 3/28/2020

The current situation regarding COVID-19 is very fluid, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we navigate it as best we can. Our focus will always be for the health and safety of the players and families. As much as we all would like to be back on the field, we must follow the guidelines of the CDC as well as state, county and city officials at this time. At this time, we do not have a clear indication of when we will get the OK to play again.

Below are a handful of FAQs. We will continue to update this as we get more information.

Spring Rec Season

Q: Is it officially over?

A: Not yet. The City of San Diego has closed all recreation centers, pools, and parks to the public through Monday, April 6, 2020. In addition, schools are closed and a statewide stay-at-home order has been issued by the Governor. Neither of these have an end date. Like you, we are monitoring the situation and will make a decision in the coming weeks.

Q: Will we issue refunds for spring?

A: The Executive Board is looking into this. It is important to note that much of the costs associated with the spring rec season (e.g., uniforms, pictures, player registration, permits, insurance) are incurred up front. If we are not able to continue our spring rec season in some fashion, the league will look into offering a partial refund, less costs already incurred by the league. If a refund is offered, we will also give the option to donate any refunds to the league.

Select

Q: Select Status?

A: Unfortunately, the Select season is over for Spring 2020. The Thinking About Spring Tournament organizers are in process of issuing a partial refund for the rained out bracket play. The Pot of Gold tournament has been cancelled and although we have not been contacted yet with details, we expect a full refund on tournament fees.

Disneyland Raffle

Q: Is the raffle still on?

A: The short answer is yes. We will push the collection of tickets back until a date at which it is safe to do so. The raffle will also be pushed back in accordance to the collection date.

Q: Will the Disneyland Tickets still be good?

A: We are working with Disneyland and Points of Light to get clarification on the expiration date of the Disneyland tickets. We know our girls as well as many parents, grandparents and extended family were excited about the raffle and we will do our best to honor our original plan.

All Stars

Q: What’s the plan?

A: USA So Cal leagues had a meeting on 3/28 to discuss how to move forward with both the rec season and the all star season. Everything is based on when softball can begin again. If possible, they would like the rec season to be extended if possible based on fields. That said, anything decided will remain in flux as we must follow local and state guidelines.

Q: What will the season look like?

A: Expect it to be shorter, but that will be determined by USA softball. We’ll update as we get more info.

Winter (Fall) Ball

Q: When will this start?

A: TBD. Some of this depends on the USA Softball district/state/national tournaments, but the goal would be to start the weekend before school begins. It is still very early to make definite plans regarding this however.
